The Hammam bath is a typical Turkish/Moroccan public bath where one cleanses the body thoroughly. A quintessential part of this tradition is the Kessa glove. This glove is made in a specific texture to help slough off dead skin cells. In this process it unclogs pores and brings a vibrant glow to the skin. It’s scrubby/massaging texture also relaxes and improves blood flow to the skin, thus improving oxygenation and fresh new cell growth.
A simple yet effective must have item for body cleansing after a long day at out at work. Traditionally, an olive oil soap is used but, as Shea soaps are very chemically clean (do not contain phthalates, sulphates, parabens, or other harsh chemicals) any one of our soaps can be used.
The Shea Kessa Glove is simple to use. Wash yourself with warm water. Soap up with one of our gentle soaps, then thoroughly wet the glove and rub the soap onto the glove, and cleanse away. Always start gently, until you get a feel for the pressure that’s comfortable for you. Once done, rinse off. You may want to moisturise with our pure hand pressed argan oil or our seaweed enriched argan oil body lotion. It’s up to you to use one or two gloves, but, usually, one is enough.
Not recommended for use on the face or for those with skin sensitivities and skin issues. Do not use on babies and children. (For face, we recommend using our argan face scrub). Rinse the glove thoroughly after each use. Drip dry by using the “shea” logo as a hook loop. For the sake of hygiene, each person should use their own Shea Kessa Glove. Use the glove once a day (end of the day is best) or as necessary. When we say warm water, we mean water that is “just not cold”. We do not recommend using very hot water for showers. Replace glove(s) as necessary.
